School Meals

School Meals

Our catering company is currently Contract Dining. Main school meals are cooked daily and served in the hall, or the caterer can provide a baguette or jacket potato.  Children are encouraged to eat the main course, which  includes:

  • one or more portions of fruit and vegetables every day
  • one or more portions of starchy food, such as bread or pasta every day
  • A portion of food containing milk or dairy every day
  • a portion of meat or poultry on 3 or more days a week
  • oily fish once or more every three weeks
  • a vegetarian option (in addition to baguette/ jacket potatoe)

If your child has particular aversions (not allergy) please let us know. Our school cooks have been with us for a considerable amount of time, and know the children very well. They are able to encourage the children gently to try new foods and meals.

We are able to support allergies within the school. Please inform the office and Mrs Bridger or Miss Glover will meet with you to discuss individual needs.

Main meals for children in KS2 (Cedar. Maple, Cherry, Birch and Oak) should be paid for weekly in advance on a Monday morning (current cost can be supplied by the office).  Dinners should be ordered and paid for online.

The cost for a school meal is £2.47 per day and payable in advance here

Drinks

Children aged 4 can register to receive free milk via www.coolmilk.com.  When your child turns 5 you have the option to pay for their milk.  We have made arrangements with Cool Milk to supply milk at a subsidised cost.

Water is available throughout the day. Each classroom has a water fountain and there are three on the playground.

Please do not send your child in with fizzy or energy drinks.

Packed lunches

We have facilities for packed lunches, which are also eaten in the hall.  Please send packed lunches in unbreakable containers and drinks in plastic beakers or a bottle with a straw. Chocolate covered items are also discouraged and should be saved for home where possible.  We encourage healthy eating and supply fruit to the younger children and we hope that parents will support this by providing a healthy packed lunch.  Please do not supply nuts as part of this lunch as some children have a nut allergy.

Universal Free School Meals

The Government has announced that from September 2014 every child in Blossom, Willow and Lime (R- year 2) will be entitled to a free school meal regardless of their family circumstances. These should be ordered using the parent link. Families have the same options as normal.

Free School Meals

Families on low income may be able to apply for free school meals for their child. Please use this link to see if you are eligible for Free School Meals.

We are very proud to continue to be a Food Standards Agency 5 star rating.
