Senior & Middle Leadership Team

Mrs Rowley-Jones (Head Teacher)

A bit about you: I am very proud to be the Headteacher of this impressive school. I grew up myself in the local area and know how important the school is within the community. I have a little boy, who is growing up far too quickly! I am a massive Liverpool fan and I am really enjoying our current winning streak!

Favourite food: You can’t beat a homemade lasagne and garlic bread, but I also love a sweet pudding too! But then there’s Thai food - too much choice!

Hobbies: I have spent quite a while travelling around the world and exploring new places with my family, jumping out of planes and kayaking along the way! I try my best to visit a new place every year, providing I can save enough money! I love to walk my dog Digby, a funny little sausage dog, along the river near my house.I have spent quite a while travelling around the world and exploring new places with my family, jumping out of planes and kayaking along the way! Miss Martin (Assistant Head Teacher)

A bit about you: Before I started teaching, I studied French at University and lived in France for several months.  Whilst living there, I worked as an English assistant but I had plenty of free time to explore the country too.  I like teaching because I like every day to be different.  There are a lot of funny moments too!

Favourite food: There’s too much to choose from!  I like lots of different things but some of my favourites are fish and chips, paella, curry and anything spicy.  Of course, I love chocolate too!

Hobbies: I don’t know if it counts but I love going on holiday.  I’ve visited some really interesting places such as Japan.  I’m quite lucky because my Mum lives in Cyprus so I can visit her there.  Last year, was one of my best trips.  I stayed with my friends who live in America and visited different big cities there including San Francisco.  It was a lot of fun!  Apart from that, I absolutely love music and going to musicals and concerts.  I try to sing along but I don’t think people standing near me like it that much!  I also love watching Formula One racing but I do get quite cross when Lewis Hamilton isn’t winning!

(Miss Martin is currently on maternity leave)

Mrs Streeter (Raising Standards Lead)

A bit about me: I joined Walderslade Primary in 2014 as a Year 5 teacher. I have worked in many schools, and have experience teaching children in year groups from Foundation Stage to year 6. Although I loved teaching younger children, I have found that I enjoyed spending my time in upper key stage a little more.

Favourite food: This is a difficult question to narrow down for me. I am a big fan of aromatic foods and enjoy the variety of spices that are in Indian cuisines, however I also love Italian food and will eat pretty much any pasta dish that is put in front of me. During the summer months there is nothing better than a good BBQ and enjoying a juicy burger in the garden.

Hobbies: I get great pleasure from exercise and try to be as active as I can. I’m not fussy and will have a go at anything. This has caused me problems in the past when I have taken part in a charity rowing events that left me incapable of walking properly for three weeks. For the past few years I have been a little more sensible and have taken part in Yoga, tai chi and running. My other passion is travelling and I try to book holidays that take me to places that I have never been before. My favourite place in the world is without a doubt Brazil. My time spent fishing for piranhas in the Amazon, whilst giant otters swam past, was one of the most enjoyable days of my life.

Miss Price (Raising Standards Lead)

A bit about me: I joined Walderslade Primary School in 2012. I have previously taught across all of Key Stage 1 but have developed a passion for the Early Years. The children develop so much at this age and provide some very entertaining stories along the way!

Favourite food: This question always make me think! I love curry, but pizza is a very close second!

Hobbies: I love to spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy going to the cinema and like to go for walks, particularly through the beautiful countryside.

Mrs Burch (ITT Lead)

A bit about me: After secondary school I studied Classical Studies and Philosophy at St Andrews University in Scotland. I saw Prince William a couple of times whilst being there, as his final year was my first year! Once I had completed my degree, I worked as a teaching assistant as well as in a secondary school office. I then trained as a teacher in 2010. I love being a teacher and watching the children develop their love for learning!

Favourite food: What a difficult question! I absolutely love Thai food but nothing too spicy. You also cannot beat an ice-cream – especially a Mr Whippy at the seaside – yum!

Hobbies: I enjoy playing table tennis and tennis. Wimbledon season is my favourite time of year! I also like watching lots of other sports, such as rugby, golf and athletics. I love dancing and particularly like Salsa Dancing. One of my favourite things is to keep up with the latest films and you may find me at the cinema at the weekends; as long as it’s not a horror film I’m okay! I also like history, so you may also find me at a castle or a Roman site or even a museum.

(Mrs Burch is currently on maternity leave)

Miss Hills (School Improvement lead)

All about me: I’m excited to join Walderslade Primary School this year in 2020. I studied Geography at University and love exploring new places. I have taught across all of KS 1 and have mentored lots of students to help them become teachers too.

Favourite food: Well…there isn’t much I don’t like but Sushi is one! If I had to pick one it would be a roast dinner closely followed by a cheese and onion sandwich and a packet of crisps.

Hobbies: I like going for long walks especially along a beach with the sea stretched out in front of me and going to Zumba classes. Visiting new cities excites me and I have been amazed by seeing an elephant being walked down the street in Bangkok, the Terracotta Army in Xian and walking over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The best place for me is Center Parcs where I can relax and have lots of fun with friends and family participating in the different activities there. Going to the theatre is also a pleasure and I enjoy a sing along at a musical. The programme Strictly Come Dancing is a real favourite!

Mrs Glover (SENCo)

A bit about me: I have been a SENCo for a number of years and have experience with a variety of special needs. I am passionate about getting the best for the children and helping them reach their full potiential. I really believe in the motto 'Never say never, just not yet.'

Favourite food: My favourite food is a rosemary leg of lamb, roast potatoes and a yorkshire pudding with a warm jam sponge for dessert.

Hobbies: Most of my time is spent with my family and we do a lot of family things together but when I get time to myself I like to bake.
